In the foreground, the underpass at Gorton Brook is visible, now half-covered by earth. The state of the deck on the M61 viaduct can be seen from here, with some sections complete and others yet to be started. In the middle of the picture a formidable array of heavy plant are parked up, presumably for some major earthmoving operation that is about to begin.
