The A120 is an east-west route across the middle of Essex, linking Stansted Airport and the M11 with the A12, Colchester and routes onwards to Harwich.
It was the UK's only single-carriageway motorway, and twenty years ago it ceased to exist. This is the story of the strange fascination it held, and of my place in history.
