Two numbers, one road. The main road south from Glasgow, and indeed most of Scotland thanks to its connections with the M73 and A702, is having something of an identity crisis.
It was the UK's only single-carriageway motorway, and twenty years ago it ceased to exist. This is the story of the strange fascination it held, and of my place in history.
